tell me what you think...

this sheath takes less than 2 hours less drying time.:)

Good job Dan! very informative.Worth 54,000 words.

Mark

P.S A sheath only takes 23.6 seconds to dry. See elephant skinner post:D

Thanks for the post! I pick up a couple of things that will make my sheath making a whole lot easier. Maybe I'll enjoy it more and it won't be such a chore for me.

Howdy There...!
Great job on the sheath making lesson. I really enjoyed reading it and the photos are great for learning. I do have one question, how do you make the upper strap with the braided part in the middle..?? Thanks..!

thanks guys

Thomas
that's something I just can't explain in words very well
I've shown guys how to do it with no problem
it's really simple to do..
the only way to tell you is take some leather
like you see on the site
and cut two parallel lines through it
and make the cuts fairly long the fist time to
make it easier then braid it and keep unfolding
the other end
there is a way to do it in tighter spots
but I'd have to show you how..
I've shown guys how at some shows
it's cool once they can do it..:)

Dan, I was just getting ready to ask about the braid section, too.

Loved the sheath tutorial- can you do just a few pics about the braid for us? I use that pattern on a lot of my thongs, but it takes both ends, not just one??

Please?

Thanks!
Dave

The braiding interested me too, so I took a piece of scrap leather, cut a one inch wide piece(shoulda used a thinner piece) and cut two slits through it. It really is easy once you try it(and let me try the CRKT Rollock Passaround knife for something new). Anyone who's interested in the look shoudl jsut give it a try, I'm sure you'll have no problem doing it too.

Hi, Dan,

Nice tutorial. Can you recall where that skiving knive came from? I like that, and it may make it easier for my darling darling to work with skiving than the head knife she usually uses. She's just recovering from Carpal Tunnel surgery and it appears it's gonna be awhile until that hand gets its strength back. She's got a number of sheathes to make, and is anxious after months of a disabled hand to get back to the fun part of life..
Thanks.

Mike I believe Tandy
I have a box of them so it's been a
long time I think they still have them.
Thanks Again guys...:D
