Making a new axe-handle.

Well, color me embarrassed...
Via the magic that is google, i just did a search on the name of the file, and found the source as the first hit.

Here is the link to the main page: Seems to be quite a lot of videos there.

Interesting how he sets the wedge. I would have thought setting the end of the handle on a firm surface then pounding it it would be better but he knows best. As crafty he is I'm surprised he hasn't sewn up his shirt. I could probably sit next to him all day and watch him work. There is something magical about being next to a true craftsman and watching the slow deliberate movements of his hands making something. Surprised he didn't use a draw knife. I guess he eliminated one more tool that was very expensive to him. I used glass to shave down powderhorns I have made. Gets them thin enough to see the powder level inside. Thanks for the post.

Great vid, thanks for posting this  Reminded me of my grandfather, he used to make all his axe handles himself.

By the way, I checked the other vids, and noticed that their all shot by mr Sakari Pälsi. For all Finnish puukko-fans, that name has a special meaning: in 1955 Pälsi wrote a book titled simply "Puukko". In it, he stored a lot of information about puukkos that otherwise might have been forgotten.
