I'm going to make some of one of these for a few of the guys at my hunting camp and wanted to get y'alls thoughts on the design before i start making them.
If it was me I would put a bit of curve in the spine and through the bottom of the handle. I find its more comfortable as well as more visually pleasing. Good start though, keep it up.
As was said, it is a very functional design. Very simple to make with minimal shaping of steel.
Just as a mental exercise I drew a series of knife profiles starting with a design even more simple than yours, and then making one or two changes, progressed through a sort of evolution. I share it here for what it's worth.
The top image is a pointy piece of steel with a cutting edge and a finger notch.
Second image has the finger notch widened in back to make it more comfortable.
Third image gives the blade a dropped point.
Fourth image drops the top and back of the handle.
The fifth image further modifies the bottom of the handle and gives the blade a clipped point rather than a rounded dropped point.
The sixth image has further modification to the bottom of the handle and the blade is more narrow (top to bottom).
