Making a serrated blade?

A few days ago, a friend asked me if I could make a hunting knifr with a serrated blade - and maybe out of Damascus! Personally I have never seen a serrated Damascus knife but that's unimportant. Three questions:

1. Does it even make sense to serrate Damascus?
2. Is such a project reasonable for a novice knife maker and what tools and techniques does one use to serrate a blade?
3. Has any of you guys made serrated blades at all?

Thanks

Is the whole thing going to be serrated? You can use a chainsaw file and a brass rod. Make your first serration and the tape the file and brass rod together. Make sure they are the same size. Put the rod in the first grove and cut the second. Work your way down the blade. The 1st groove is a guide for the second. The second is a guide for the third, and so on.
