You know - the one word that takes you there. For example a FOR SALE link that just takes you to the thread or a thread link that says HERE and when you click you are brought right to it?

How do I?

Please & thank you.

Thanks danbot, however  I must be more dense than usual :(

• Copy the URL - GOT IT
• Paste the URL into the INSERT line - GOT IT
• At that point if I click INSERT the URL is inserted just as I copied it.

BUT

? If I highlight the (not yet inserted) URL and type over it with whatever - THEN click INSERT I get my new word inserted into my thread (or signature) but it doesn't function as a link EXCEPT to nowhere.

? What am I missing?

Thanks again. Ray

You insert it ( into your post )and then highlight it and type what you want.

Alternatively (and simpler IMO), type what you want the link to say first, highlight that, then click the link button and paste the URL. That'll make whatever was highlighted into that link.

Cool! I didn't know it worked that way too!
