I took a bucksaw class where we were given the history of the bucksaw, and the different methods of making one. We surmised that you needed a saw to make a saw... I'm sure you could do it with just the blade but it would be hard. I like your take on it using a vik

I'm going to try this. I keep coming back and looking at this thread a couple times every day. Time to take some action and do something. I've got the day off tomorrow. I'll keep you guys 'posted' when I finish. Thanks for this post and the idea. Wish I was in italy right now....

Thanks, Martin. When I bought my saw blade there were 2 in that packet. so I should say when I bought my saw blades lol.
I am going to make another one, but I am going to change it a little and when I get it done I will let you see it. I am planning on doing a little video so it will give you a better Idea than pics, I think anyways lol.

I will keep you posted.

Hi all,

I made another saw and well here is the pics.

I changed the cross piece. I carved points into the ends and then drilled a hole into each handle and then put it all together like normal.

Just a little difference in the design. After using both of them saws for sawing I think the second one seems to be more stable than the first one. anyways they both work.

Anyways it has been a fun project.
