Awhile back I accidentally ordered a couple feet of .270 1084 instead of a thinner piece...so I've had a bar of ultra fat steel laying around and no use for it....but I've decited I wanted to try to make wood chisels out of it. My question though, is how long and at what temp to temper it to achieve what hardness? I'm pretty sure chisels are quite a bit harder thsn your average knife blade. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks!!
