Making curly maple "pop"

I was wondering what techniques you guys are using to make the grain in curly maple really stand out.
Any tips?

Those are great tips.

Some guitar makers stain the maple with a pretty dark stain and then sand most of it off. The stain soaks in differently in different parts of the curl and leaves a strong contrast between the curls.

Whatever you do, test on scrap first!
