When i don't have thick enough kydex to make something I'll find some old pvc pipe and make it out of that. Old Rx bottle lids can be used as scope lens covers. A few times in an emergency I've used bic pens to make tubing out of.Have to wonder if you could heat the ends and make eyelets out of them. Some old seatbelts make good straps and belts.
A phd in improvisation should be required education for adults,but it seems to be a dying art instead.

Consumerism kills creativity. Just buy what you need.... is that motto. I'll keep foraging, bartering, and creating my own stuff ALONG with my high-tech gear. No reason the two cannot co-exist.

This thing is getting great. We just got back from our anniversary trip to the ocean. We used to spend up to $400 in lodging for this outing, but was out of the question now. I had a triple bonus weekend. Made a deal with some family that have a vacation home on the ocean (free), spend the weekend with awesome wife and 2 youngest kids, notified that we won't be let go this year at work just before leaving (priceless). The youngins learned about air currents and compasses while flying kites too.

We are in for some more making do. My oldest son (25) just joined the Army Reserve and asked to move home for the interim and my oldest daughter (20 in Nov.) is moving home to get some direction. Blessings and trials all wrapped up and delivered along with lots of prayer.
