i have an old spring assisted knife with a lot of blade play and im starting to give up on it i was wondering if i could make a cheap fixed blade out of it i know its possible but no clue how to do it

Leave it open in the elements, it will rust in place.

Seriously, just buy a fixed blade. They are cheap and plentiful and come in a million varieties.

1) Remove blade from handle

2) Drill second hole in the blade next to the pivot hole

3) Rivet slotted handle onto the blade

4) Slay zombies / gut trout

It might be easier to fix the knife, by messing with the screws or adding an extra washer to one side? I have made a neck knife from a folder blade but Drilling hardened steel can be tough and you need at least .5" between the pivot hole and the second hole to maintain even marginal rigidity with use.
