Well, I have finished my first run of "real" knives. Some folks will remember fondly my POS and Little Bully models, both gems in their own right but also quite crudely rendered. My latest batch feature blade sof about 2 inches and OAL's of 4-4.5". I used a bench grinder to hash out the general profile and a Dremel with an abrasive disc to create index finger notches. Maybe I can snap a few photos today.
The first time I tried to create knives using files I was using D-2 planer blade stock and the stuff was IMPOSSIBLE to work with. I used 1084 this time and it was much easier this time around. I also went with 1/8" thick because for knives this size anything thicker is overkill. I'm going to type up a tutorial, so check out my webpage in a few days and there should be some good info. If using 1084, it isn't as hard as you would think, so stay tuned!
