alright so what do you guys do to get this stuff together?
my Brother in law is gonna try to make some up. he has west systems epoxy and a ton of different denim or linen materials he's like to use
just smear it on each layer stack and press or what?

how about you Butch? you seems to get funky looking almost patterns to your stuff, do you strip it up and layer it crazy?

thanks for the input guys. i'll make sure to post pics of his finished product on one of his knives.

I used a regular vise to clamp the glued up materials. If you put wax paper around it the epoxy will not stick. I did a laminate from an old pair of Levis 501 jeans. Half of the pieces I bleached out to a very light blue and left the other half un-bleached. It turned out pretty cool after I sawed a piece off and ground it to expose the layers.

when i make the "burl" i cut everthing into about 1/2 inch bits and mix the hole works in a 1 gal size ziplock to makr sure it gets mixed up nice them pour the "mix" into the form and press
i also do the layer thing but not as mych any more the epoxy i ahve now has a short pot life

let me know how the marine epoxy goes i want to try it some times

i ll help you get stuff set up but its more about balanceing epoxy to the fabric and jsut how much pressuer is to much you kind of have to guess at
