No not really. I lightly oil it with a brush after completion. That's about it.

Sorry didn’t have time to properly answer your question this morning. Had to run. Anyhoo in post #4 in this thread is a link to how I go about doing a roughout sheath. Specifically I cover in there what to look for in selecting a piece for roughout use. That link might be beneficial to you.
