Making liner lock knife?

Hi everyone! This is my first post on Blade Forums. I am a high school senior and over the last couple months have really been getting into knife making. I've completed 3 knives so far and have 2 that are almost done. (I'll post some pictures soon if you all are interested in seeing them). All the knives that I have made so far are fixed blades. I have been thinking about attempting to make a liner locking folder. Is it possible for a beginner knife maker like me to do this? I am pretty good with my hands and learn quickly but I'm not sure if I have the right tools. I have a 8" bench grinder, 2x42 belt sander, band saw, drill press, dremel, and most hand tools. What do you guys think? Do you think I could do it with the tools I have? Also, what is good metal to use for the liner lock? Will aluminum work? I have some aluminum that I got from home depot but does aluminum have the same qualities as spring steel and would it work for liner locks? My blades I have been making out of 1095 so I would use that for the blade of the folder. I'll appreciate any of your opinions!

Did you by any chance do a search? There is a terrific work in progress in this forum on making a liner locking folder. No, aluminum certainely won't work. You will need some titanium or heat treat some metal to spring hardness. We love pictures here . Sounds like you may have some good ones to send us. To see some of my liner locking knives go tothje customknifegallery and find me. Oh yes, I just have basic tools. I do not have a surface grinder or milling machine but some 2X72 grinders with variable speed. Read all the stickies above this forum !!! They too, are very helpfull. Frank

Thanks for the advice! I tried googleing tothje custom knives and the only thing that came up was JE knives. Could you give me a link? I would really like to look at your knives.
