The knife has a weight of 1100grams way too heavy

The work is still in progress i don't have a beldgrinder so it will take me a while to finish this knife i hope it's finished before the 24e because there will be a cuttingcompetition over here. I really like to know how the knife will hold in action.

looking good but I think you will need to thin the blade a bit more.
It should chop wood as is .

Thats quite a lump of steel!

I wonder if an angle grinder jig like this would help you knock the 'meat' off the blade?

(ive never made or used one, but it looks like it should do the job nicely!) -

all the best, john

Hello John

I must say i've never seen any thing like this it's not difficult to make this and i thinck it's quit handy for grinding the blade in a full flat grind.
I'm a metal worker so this won't be a problem to make and i probebly will make it.

Thanks,

Leon

Leon, thanks for the pictures and the showing us your work. I'm looking forward to watching this unfold...

it's nice to show work in progress a least i like doing that. Today i spend some hours in my toolshop filing the edge on the blade one side i almost finished i only need to sand it.

At the moment my knife is almost finished, only the guard needs a little touch up, hardning the blade and putting on some rubber handels and the sharpen it.

some pictures i made of the knife as it is now.

Sweet knife let me know whan you get a belt grinder so you can make me one.

I wish i could buy a belt grinder but they are very expensive i'm just a guy who makes knives as a hobby. But it would be nice to make one for someone else and make some money;)

Of course i will post the wip pictures today the knife went to the hardning company if everything goes well i will have it back wednesday, i cant hardly wait finishing the knife:D

If you are new to the cuttingcompetition take a look at www.bladesports.com. you can find everything there.

He Gunsto i checked it and i will take a look at it i'm a metalworker / welder so making one myself won't be to difficult i've seen a nice tutorial on bb of a kmg grinder

Cool...lookin good. How are you heat treat?

Thanks.

The heat treatment was done by a hardening company
They hardend it this way:

Hardeningtemp: 960 degrees celcius
Tempering: 350 degrees celcius and at last warmbath 220 degrees celcius

The Knife was tested at 57+ HRc

Today i "finished" my knife it only needs some toching up (take some glue of and polish away some scratches

tomorrow it's gona cut things

Here are some more pictures of the wip i'm not so sure about the glue maybe i have to do it again we will see.
