making my first flipper

its most likely been said before but i cant seem to find it. im trying to make a flipper i have access to all sorts of tools( i work on helicopters in the army) but i cant seem to get all info i need. i dont know what size detent or what size pivot basically hardware. any info would be great. thanks in advance eveyone.
 
Go to jake hobacks site and click on the open source link. Even if you dont want to build that exact knife its a good reference. There are also many youtube tutorials. Jake has some really good ideas and advancements in flippers and he shares his knowledge freely. I would start there.
 
Here are my notes from my first builds, hope it helps you out some. I've built 4 flippers and these are the notes I've accumulated during the process. If I can help feel free to shoot me an email larevo@gmail.com I can send you some pics of what I've created as well. I've learned most of what I've done on this forum and online. Some really good stuff, just have to find it is all. Just want to pay it forward if I can.

Sorry if the notes are hard to make sense of, I plan on putting all this down in more a tutorial at some point but hopefully it can help answer some questions you may have to get started.

Lockbar length 2.10
detent ball 1/16th
#53 bit for detent ball
Ti 2-56 screws head is .0560 thick

• Bearing pocket for blade only .0410
• Stop pin slot- radius .2871 but have to add the radius of the bit you are using .1250. radius is .0625 plus the radius of your arch is .3496. this will put the bit right where you need it when starting at 0.
• Conterbore frame screws to .0850 using the 11/64 end mill
• Stop pin is .092
• Stop pin hole is .075 deep
• Stop pin length .032

• Tap for 2-56 use a #47 drill bit
• Counterbore for pivot screws .312 use endmill or counterbore with .187 pilot
• Lockbar .700 from top
• .5 in from side
• Length of lockbar is 2.5
• Lockbar relief .5
• Lockbar relief thickness .055
• Inside of pivot pin hole depth .035
