i thought i already posted this but i must not have.
i am working on my first liner lock, i decided to make a barlow style from don robinsons cad drawings because he set down the challenge on the knife network.
i started on wednesday and got the liners and blade profiled as well as the dowels placed to hold it all straight.
on thursday i cut the lock and intalled 2 screws to hold it together, i also drilled and tapped all the holes for the scales. and i fited the lock so it locked up well, and the open and closed positions were set. unfortunately while drilling the detent things went wrong and the blade would stay open a bit, i tried to fix it but had to give up.
today i scraped the damascus blade with the wrong detent and made a new one out of 1095, took the whole morning to get it made and fitting right. then i heat treated it and the backspacer and got to work on the scales.
i used the rest of the damascus bar to make the bolsters and used some celuloid tortoise shell for the scales.
i havnt recessed the screws or finished shaping the handle yet, also the blade is covered in scale but here is what i have at the end of day 3
so far its going great and its gonna kill me that i cant work on it till next friday, but oh well at least i have something to look forward to all week.
