I often find that I like something 90 percent and wish that something was different. It could be clothing, tools, cars, etc. I often wish I was an engineer or had the ear of the designer of a product so I could say" This would be much better if you only changed this etc. Have this thread be about what you would like different. I put it here cause I want the RC 4 to have blaze orange kydex sheath with holes and molle but no part wider than the blade. (sort of like the falkniven sheaths.) RAT? Do you hear me? BLAZE ORANGE KYDEX SHEATH BUILD NARROWER AND SMALLER WITH 100 PERCENT RETENTIION MECHANISM.

Something like this work?

Or do you want something even slimmer?

Oh, and Onado2000, these are yours if you see this, shipping out tomorrow.

That's a sweet looking sheath shotgunner.

Where can I get those screws you used attach the fire steel?

chicago screws

as for a sheath.... i cant see this going into normal production... custom ordered sheath would be the way to go..

but all i see with the falk sheaths is they are injection molded with nylon.... the material works differntly. and im not 100% sure what your trying to express and desire. see i work in a shop so if something needs to be done to make it more to my needs. i just do it. you dont have to be an engineer (god i hope not) to make changes or to get things done for yourself. what you do have to do is be able to communicate your desires in a way some one can make it happen. or for you to draw out and make it happen.

engineers unfortunatly make lots of mistakes sence a lot never work the material they plan to use. i have used blue prints that are impossible my modern tooling. and made changes as needed.

you would make a fortune if you could figure out how to drill a square hole.

Your making me closer and closer to making something orange for myself. Nice work Shotgunner.

I love that sheath shown above. I would like it narrower and the fire steel attachment in the middle so it doesn't make the sheath any wider. It may be very hard due to how kydex sheaths are made I realize, but that's what I'm looking for.

I could make it somewhat slimmer, but not much. You have to leave a bit of distance from the blade to the rivets otherwise the rivets won't fold over properly and the sheath will squeeze the blade. You could take off all the excess material to the outside of the rivets but it looks a bit better with a touch of overhang. The firesteel holder wouldn't be hard to make to sit in front of the sheath but the problem comes in when you decide to get a firesteel with a bigger handle and it won't fit. I've tried both styles and I prefer the above style as it doesn't stick out as far from my side to snag on things or print as heavily under a shirt. To each his own.

Shotgunner, do you happen to make something similar to that for the izula? only in black? would love something slimmer for pocket carry, while still being able to belt carry horizontally..

Hi

you could try to get the sheath smaller by using screws only on one side!

the RC-6 sheath i made is only 4mm wider than the standard RC-4 kydex, and this material could be removed outside the holes.
Retention works as good!

Def sounds like you need to custom order something. A fold over, with 2 kydex straps around it to mount molle cilps to the backside under the sheath ( instead of on the sides). Might be possible. Still gonna be a sliplock deal though.

This is abput as slim as this style can be as far as I'm concerned.

If you need something slimmer, you need to go to a foldover and go with a different mounting option, like the Tek-loc.

Thank you Shotgunner, your the MAN! sheaths look great, outstanding work! Looking forward to using them. The RC4 sheath looks awesome and I like the fire steel attachment, you really do nice work!!! And the Izula sheath, what an upgrade from the original:D! I am so looking forward to these, thank you very much. I will be asking for a few more sheaths in the near future, if that is ok.

As far as Summerman wanting a thinner profile sheath, is it possible to use thinner kydex material to reduce thickness (I realize its a minimal reduction, a matter of millimeters of thickness).

I got a sheath for a BK7 by shotgunner in trade, and I can say that his stuff is top notch. As good as any other custom kydex guys here on BF.

Just wanted to give a recommendation. Keep up the good work.

Ever done anything for an izula?
