Making the clip on a sheath stronger?

Hey, everyone. Just had the opportunity to try the feel of a couple of push daggers recently & one was great, but the retention outmatched the strength of the clip- at least when it was in my pocket. Any fixes to this? Either making the clip stronger or making the retention less powerful seems like it would do it. How do I go about this?

Or should I just go with a leather sheath? Custom kydex was another idea I had & I wouldn't have to wrap duct tape around it like I would likely have to do with the leather one ("Vietnam Style," I guess would be the term for it), but I honestly don't know where to get either. Someone here's got to know a place that can do either without a huge price tag or busting my balls about it being for a push dagger. Maybe I should just say it's for a regular short dagger? It would be the same for the blade area.

If you can remove the clip and replace it, try one of these:

I guarantee your retention will not be stronger than the clip. We use them on IWB holsters where that same problem can be an issue.

Added advantage is then the belt becomes optional as last picture shows.

Possible Stupid Question: Can that clip be taped/glued onto a kydex sheath & still work? I ask because the clip isn't removeable, but I might be able to make use of the one you suggested. Or maybe I can use it in a custom leather sheath?

An idea I had was to make a hole in the pocket, put the tan of the clip through that (so it goes back into the pocket), and then wrap tape around the whole sheath & clip together. Not so easy to get detached quickly, but that's the only big problem I'm seeing. I guess I could just put it on my belt, because it seems to work fine like that, but that would make it harder to conceal so people don't get all cranked-up AND access quickly at the same time. Figuring they're both important at this point in American history- never know who's going start some shit because you look pro or anti Trump to them.

Found answer: Either doing my idea (with the tab/clip going through a hole in the garment & back out, then taping around the whole thing below that area) or putting a carabiner through the hole in the sheath & through the pants or whatever & back out. Either on requires two holes in whatever you're attaching this sheath to, but maybe you can use a grommet kit from a craft store to keep things from fraying? It seems it would make using rope/paracord like damaging to the fabric, at least.
