I have a question that will tryuly show my expertise in the knifemakeing field :( ...but i need the help so here goes.

How do you heat treat a blade to get the "hamon" to show up?
i have no idea how to make it work...i have tried several things...but none of them worked.

I only have a charcoal forge made from a brake-drum, a green bean can and a microwave blower...but i can get stuff pretty hot. what do i need to do?

also, after heat treating the blade do i need to etch it to make the hammon visible or does it just "show up"? some practical advise on this would be very helpful.

also...what is a good PCB echant solution ratio?

thanks for the help!
