Making Three Slipjoints at Once WIP

Mr Schott,

I have been looking for a black/ orange Micarta for a long time. Would you mind telling where you got that Micarta from? Your work is really impressive. I especially like the fluted bolsters, it really sets the bolsters off.

Thank you,
Chris

Chris,
Unfortunately, I picked up a sheet about 5 years ago and only have about 4 sets of handles' worth left. I don't know where to get it nowadays. I do know a source for black/orange G10 but it will be a much duller finish than this micarta, which is paper micarta and polishes more like plastic.....

The G10 can be found here:

They look good!

If you don't mind I like to ask a question about the HT.
Doe you harden the blade and spring at the same time and anneal the spring at a higher temperature?

do you use a part off wheel (1mm) to do the nail groove? that last one really appeals to me...once again great work!

Yes I hardened both at the same time then tempered at 1100 for two hours( i think) for the spring while tempring the blade normally .

I used a thin cut dremel cutoff disc that I sharpened a bit, put into my drillpress chuck upside down. I then held the blade in a vice and moved the blade/vice into the spinning disc by hand.

Thanks for replying, it works well.

I'm pretty new to this forum so I missed this when you posted it. But I just got to say what a great work on those slipjoints! I love traditional folders and these have perfect blade shape and finish.
I keep an eye on your future knifes on the forum sale area!

Best Regards form Sweden!
