Four sets of Premium, Siberian, Mammoth Ivory Scales. 3-5/16'' to 3-5/8" long by 1-1/8" +/- wide. $100 each shipped, total: $400 SOLD

Reason for selling. I use a lot of mammoth ivory and only buy the best, but for over 12 years I have been buying more than I use
(stock piling:)). So I've decide to thin my stash. I make really thin folders and these scale are a little thicker in the middle than they are on the ends. I could use these but really need scales that are flat or thinner in the middle than on the ends.

These are very nice scales with great color (blue/green), the bark is still on, no sanding on the surface. They can be sanded to revile the color or left natural and used like stag (nice look). The dark color on the edges and ends is Blue.

Selling all four together, not separate. Someone buy these before I change my mind :D

L6, thanks for the offer, that's a fine lookin rig and I am a gun nut.
But I've spent too much lately and need to recoup some $$$$

But,

You wouldn't happen to have an old Ruger 10/22 with walnut stock, would ya ???
I've really gotten into modifying and shootin these :)

Pay Pal sent, Mr Hanson. Guess that messes up your plans on getting a new 10/22, eh?:p Now all I have to do is figure out how to make small integrals, full tangs or something similar so I can use the stuff..:D

Thanks, Joe, I'll send them out Monday. These scales would be fantastic on smaller fixed blades.

I'll be posting a few more here soon, so stay tuned :)

I am thinking about trying to make a integral with bolsters and a buttcap/pommel out of a slice of the 2 x 3/4 piece of W2. LOTS of slow and tedious blade forging and handle grinding/filing in my future...lol. Post some longer pieces next time. And of course you realize that I will be bothering you for instructions on how not to screw this stuff up, right?:D

Outstanding Joe!!! Post lots of pix for us when you get the knives made!!!!
Don, no 10/22's here! Ugh!!

Joe, might try wood on the first couple integrals :)

Might have one or two longer, will see. I will help you along until you get the hang of ivory.

Thanks,

I hear ya, Don. I tried to make a little integral a long time ago from a 1/2 thick piece of O1. Getting the blade and tang to line up was a PITA doing it by hand. I ended up with a mess...lol. The press should, in theory, make it a bit easier. This ivory will probably lie around for a while, but i figured that you definately know what you are doing when it comes to picking ivory, so I don't have to worry about buying it sight unseen and finding out it isn't up to snuff:D I may try one of the long bolstered full tang hunters like you do first before I tackle an integral.
