Mammoth tooth handle design

I am planning to build a knife with a mammoth tooth. Since they come pretty thin - 3/16 or close I think I'll need to add something for more bulk. Fiber liners are too thin and I don't have wood planner to make thin wood scales with both sides parallel to each other.
What do you guys think? Any recommendations?

I have a set that I have yet to use for the same reason. I have been thinking about perhaps using stainless shim stock to add the bulk you are referring to, and perhaps incorporating it with a damasus or stainless bolster.?????

double up on the liners. Color the epoxy the same as the liners and it will look like one piece. another .06 should do it.

Thanks for advise. I was thinking about multiple layers of liner, just wasn't sure if it'll show.
Don't have milling machine unfortunatly.

Why don't you just get the tooth cut a little thicker? Ron Burke <CRAZYFOXREB@aol.com> cuts his own and is a very good material-stabilizing guy as well. I believe some of the big companies are using him for mammoth tooth.
