Man Gets Life Inprison For 2 3/4 Inch Buck Knife!

I'm sorry if you feel that we're being too tough on your brother, but, if your brother hadn't been busily stealing someone else's property, having his pocket knife along wouldn't have mattered, would it?

I cannot agree with you that Tim should be out of prison and allowed to continue his career as a criminal. You may disagree with me, but, I don't think that Tim's an angel and that he can do no wrong.

I might be way off-base, in Sandi's opinion, but isn't prison the only "retirement" that career criminals deserve?

Sandi-
I understand that you are understandably tied up in this emotionally, this is your brother after all.

However, by your own admission you have said that he has been convicted on 19 charges- that makes it habitual and that makes him a career criminal.

Was a life sentence for carrying a closed pocketknife in the commission of a burglary too harsh? It is, I think most people would agree on this.

Did your brother bring it upon himself for his own actions? In other words, if he hand't decided to make a career out of burglary would this still be happening? He put himself in the position and I am surprised that you as someone who has known him his whole life does not see this.

I have a crackhead for a father. When he complains about how bad his life is and how much money he has lost I have no pity for him. Its his own damn fault.

I think your bitterness at the unfair sentencing is blinding you Sandi. You have got increasingly combative in response to members here- perhaps because you did not hear what you wanted?

I see no evidence of any member here trying to claim personal perfection or otherwise writing in such a way as to necessitate the tone of your response.

One last time, the punishment does not fit the crime. However, it may be applicable given his past history (which still isn't clear). Sorry if thats not what youwant to hear. And no, I am not perfect and I do break the law from time to time. You know, speeding and the like. No drinking and driving and NEVER thievery. For myself, I like more traditional methods of dealing with thieves...
