Hello everyone!

I received today my gift for my GF Buck's China made pink smooth bone Canoe knife. I touched blades bit with ceramic rod's and stroped them before sending it to her. She loves all pink.

I got hooked in pattern though. Feels good in hands. Pen blade and spear point ( I'm huge fan of spear point, I like them better than clip points ). Currently I don't have money to buy myself a Canoe, not even Rough Rider one.

But as soon I get bit money, I'll going to get some nice Canoe knives. Rough Rider's have given good attention in here, so I'll be probably be looking one or two nice Rough Rider Canoe patterns. One yeller handle one... who knows, maybe smooth tobacco? Their price is not bad and even F&F wouldn't be best (what can you expect from $10-18 knife?) they would still be good knives based on how people have liked them in here.

I never knew finding ideal pattern could be this fast.

For a bargain priced knife I would recommend the Colt over the Rough Rider, for just a few bucks more you get a much nicer knife...

The canoe was to me a sleeper. I never cared for it much till I got one. Then it was an instant love affair:thumbup::D

Hi,

Those Canoes will sneak up on you if aren't careful! I always admire your Queen Canoe when you post it, Steve. I really like the acorn shield on those scales.

Me, I got hooked on the Case Canoes.

My Queen Canoe with D2 steel and birdseye maple scales was my favorite knife. Then it fell out of my pocket. Man, I miss that thing. No funds for a replacement.

Some day, man. Some day...

Love my '77 Case Blue Scroll. I had a rare Schrade canoe and traded it like an Idiot!

Navihawk showed you a Queen City (Cozy Glen) in carbon

May I be so bold to suggest a Queen Canoe in D2
The main blade on the Queen is significantly thicker in the bolster, but is differencially ground to come to a thinner blade
This make for a very stout working blade with a lot of 'meat' in the bolster

The secondary pen is very thin and make a wicked cutter

A very well balanced knife

Excellent choice Jani, the Canoe pattern is one of my favourites. The Queen Cozy Glen canoe I have is definitely in my top three favourite slipjoints.

Damn Steve, that is some FAT stag on that Case canoe. Must be a dream to hold in the palm of your hand, can't say I've seen anything like that on a slipjoint.

Absintheur, thank you for advice. Colt has nice Black Stag and Titanium black smooth bone Canoes. They look very nice! When I'm getting money, I'm so getting Queen's Canoe somehow! And for the BladeForum knife 2011 I will vote for Canoe pattern :D

Edit: Absintheur: I found that exact same Colt Pattern canoe you have for very nice price. I really liked the swedges.

That was what originally caught my eye one the Colts...those swedges...lol, I am a sucker for them. The Colt Brown Stag series just amazed me as far as quality and looks.

So far tho this Mohark Canoe from AG Russell is my favorite...

This thread prompted me to put mine in my pocket for today. for a knife as stout as it is they carry well in the pocket.I really like the thick backspring.

As a Finn some brands of traditional cutlery might be very hard to get but I made plan for next year: I focus on Canoes:

Queen Canoe
Case Canoe
Tidoute Canoe

What else good USA made cutleries make quality canoe knives. I am not sure if I can dig somewhere Schatt&Morgan or older Schrade Canoes, but those would be so great finds.

I had a Buck chinee canoe til the spring broke. Haven't sent it back yet but like very much. Steel seemed to be Buck 420 goodness. Also have a Queen canoe in D2. Gotta say though on the Queen canoe and whittler those thick blades, while cool are a stone cold biatch to get sharp.

I only have one canoe, from Böker, and I really like it. I like its looks and with its two blades it is a very useful tool. But, they are bit hard to find here in the Netherlands.

This one also fits very well in my hands.

Canoes are my favorite pattern. It's a toss-up which I like better, the Case or the Queen. The Case is slimmer, the Queen is beefier. I just trade off every so often. But I always carry the Gunboat. :)

I do think odds are good a Boker is in my future. . .

Yes, that's right. Spear, sheepsfoot and spey. Bigger too, about 4-1/4" long closed.
