Man I love my kabar bowie

I really like the cutlass and kukri, but the bowie looks all around more versatile.
I would be stripping the blade for sure, though. (for personal preference only)

Sure bushcraft knives and smaller, thinner blades are in vogue right now,

…but in my opinion Big Bowies Rule.

They are part of our American Heritage. :)

If you find one that serves you well,

…and become proficient in its use…

…it can bring you great satisfaction.

I wouldn't worry about the tang on the Kabar, it's built really well as you can tell from the picture. SwampRat knives used to make their handles the same way before they went to using Micarta and those handles are holding up just fine.

IMO the Kabar Heavy Bowie is a great knife and even better do to it's low cost. I have a Becker BK-9 and an older SOG tigershark with SK5 carbon steel blade. My problem isn't which is stronger cause I know they will all handle everything I throw at them it's which to use today.

I can't decide between the Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie, the Ka-Bar Cutlass and the Ontario Cutlass. I want an allrounder. (chopping, clearing bushes and killing dinosaurs. :D)
I can imagine the Ka-Bar Cutlass is the hardest to resharpen, because of the recurve.

It's also a hollow grind (I think), which is what turned me off. Still kind of want one for some reason. :D

There really aren't many non-mora production knives that I get excited about, which is why the bowie stands out all the more for me.
