Man, Sirupate has been lurking alot lately!!!

I agree 100%. This is HI's forum and it should stay dedicated to HI.

If anyone wants to check out the competition at British Blades or anywhere else, that is their perogative.

OK Rusty, youve made you decsion, moderator & gun slinger indeed.

Must say Lalit will be concerned to hear he is not the biggest exporter of kukri!

To be truthfull I dont eny you the position , Moderator is indeed the correct word.

Munk you say."I have no idea whether or not you've misunderstood me, and have little idea of what you are talking about. You've eaten food with him and this means? It was digested agreeably? The waiter was friendly?

My point was that I know Simon well enough to point out to you that he wasnt going to send unwanted emails to HI forumites."

A similar point I noticed Yvsa also made at the same time I was posting.

I find your answear obtuse & ignorant & deliberatly sarcastic.

Strange ,I expected more from you.

Spiral.

I fell responsible for any negative feelings aroused by this thread. I never intended that. I was really just saying hello, I didnt realize there was so much to it.
Once again, I have trodden in feculence.
I apologise.

I tried to be as funny as possible, Spriral, after you deliberately read the worst into my words previously, took a quote out of context, and then struck an attitude. I wanted you to lighten up, and I obviously failed. I never said Simon would send unwanted emails; couple of you misunderstood that. OF course Simon would not do that. But when he is here, he benefits from our email network, Bills meeting place, and word of mouth, without having to do a thing.

It's a shame I've had to say this three times. Simon is a good guy, and this is not about that.

I know Simon is your friend. They are very important. I would like to hear from Simon too, but don't think it's appropriate here as a regular participant.
I think your anger has been misplaced.

munk

I wouldn't sweat it DIJ. People hear what they want to hear. When you add non-vocal communication to the mix where subtle voice changes and hand gestures are lost, then you end up with ambiguity. Some people bristle at the chaos that could come about from "crossing the streams" of khuk dealers. That is a prudent and wise choice especially with the way things are these days in the cantina. We've beaten why and why not to death. I think the important thing here is that just about everyone can agree that Simon is a good guy that knows his stuff and has good products. Anyone that wants them or wants to speak with him knows where to find him.

Jake

I didnt think you were saying he was a bad guy, we both know hes not.

I used the word misunderstood to help you realise, I did not have an attitude. ;)

Thank you for posting 3 times it took for us to understand what each other was saying. :D

Spiral

Spiral, Steely gunz was right about intonation and other cues- the whole run of guy guy guy stuff was funny, and if you could have seen my face with the digestable food, you'd have laughed. The words came out with enough force that the humor was overshadowed, I think.

munk

All you need to get people's e-mail addresses is to be a registered user. I have not yet recieved any coupons from Tora or any other khukuri vendor. I don't think I've recieved any unsolicited mail from any BFC member before... except from that munk guy. ;) :D :p

When the competition eats in your restaurant, YOU have better food... :D

AA

oops- sorry, meant to post this in my "restaurants" forum... :p

Well, where to start on this one!! Personally I think too much water has passed under this bridge. Sirupate and to some extent myself are unwelcome here. We originally stumbled on this website/forum by searching for kukri on google, a subject which brings us all here in one way or another.

Yvsa hit the nail on the head, we have a different market..... I could go on and on about that, but I don't want to be accused of "grabbing the lime light".

Simon's interest in Nepal, the Gurkhas, and the kukri are not dissimilar from most of yours, and until I came across this forum, I thought Simon was the only person in the world that was interested in this strangely shaped knife!! It seems a shame to me that Simon feels unwelcome to share his knowledge and experience with people that have the same interests and passion for this subject. A reason why we started our own forum when he was requested not to post here. (It would have drove me mad if he spoke to me about it all the time!!)

At the same time however, we completely understand everyones feelings about us seeming to be a competitor. If we didn't run Tora, would everyones opinion be different.... of course or at least I hope so.

I no longer feel its appropiate for me to post here, I'm as much to do with Tora as Simon and if he is not allowed, then neither should I be.

As a couple of you have pointed out, you know where to contact us if you'd like to. I'm sure Bill and Rusty won't mind me saying that you are all welcome to discuss issues on our forum too if you would like. We'd like it to be a place where everyone can talk about kuks in general, share knowledge and experience without having to worry about offending anyone. Bill had his invite a while back and it still stands..... the same goes to all.

Leanne ;-)

Leanne, you could never be unwelcome, wherever you go. The situation seemed indelicate to me, and I didn't know how to handle it or what cue to take.
It's settled now, and in my judgement Simon is respected.

I hope I'm still welcome on your forum. (probably have Spiral work me over in a narrow London alley...with fog and stuff.)

I believe we are all Brothers and Sisters of the Khuk.
munk

Munk,
Of course you are welcome. You always have been, you always will be. Besides Munk V's Spiral always makes for interesting reading!!!

Leanne ;-)

Does this mean I shouldn't expect any pics in my malbox? :(
