Has anyone out there purchased/used the Rob Bayley knife Bear uses on Man Vs. Wild? If so would appreciate some feed back on its performance.

You only have to make one thread.
I haven't hear anything about the knife though sorry.

it's a nice knife- if i'm right it's made here in the uk too, so that might explain why it's a lot more expensive for you folks over the pond

We do not get gouged for exorbitant import/customs fees like you do. When I buy something from Europe, I pay only for the item and the shipping.

Looks like the price has gone down, or maybe the Pound has dropped in value when compared to the dollar. It is now $573.78. (£350)

When you consider that the other non "Bare Grillz" knives he makes are about $508.27 (£275 + £35 for horizontal sheath upgrade), the Bear Name is like $60 extra.

I would pay $60 more for one without that name on it. :D

I believe he means at anything anyone might use the Bear knife for.

well, the Kabar is not the greatest at holding an edge, not the best cutter, and not a good choice for batoning due to the soft stick tang. . . and the double guard is more of a hindrance than a help. . .

But, I think the Bear knife is really designed for cutting limes at the hotel bar, so you are probably right. :D

For $350 you can get so many great blades you are really spoiled for choice.

Customs even...

Go to the Busse exchange right now and you're in clover baby!

SARsquatch, Hellrazor, Chopweiler, ASH1, Dogfather, Battle Mistress, BATAC - take yr pick!!!

Not to be too argumentative, but; the Kabar was used rather extensively by our military forces for the last five or six decades. I believe that these users (our military) had to contend with rather more than Bear in his TV set ups.

He seems to be a likable guy; sometimes entertaining and or goofy. You can't blame the guy for trying to make a buck. As for the Kabar, try one; you'll like it. Or, spend more .... but most of all stay safe and have fun. Cheers.:D
