Just flipping through and come across Bear with a horizontal knife sheath, with what looked like a small bag on the front side. Looked pretty sweet for a medium knife based kit.

Anyone know what it is?

That was his $700 hotel survival knife, I believe Horn Dog owns one.

Good blade, just not $700 good, of course I dont own it.

Doesn't his knife come with this horizontal sheath + pouch? I'm not interested in the knife he was using, but rather the pouch/sheath combo.

I think it's his patented "Ramada inn Kit" contains shaving cream tooth brush and tokens for the casino....

I think last season's Bayley knife was 'plain' - this one was partially serrated. I think I saw "Me!" emblazoned on it. At least he quit dragging the knife's edge over a firesteel - now he carries a 'Light My Fire' with a separated striker. The boy still eats bugs - and raw reptiles. Was he 'Mikey' in that old cereal ad?

Why would you find yourself helecoptering into a place that basically can't reach on foot?

He mentioned in the first two minutes about 5 times how he could be killed at an moment.

That is when I turned it off and wished for Survivorman to be on.

Oh my, he climbed down a waterfall again...

And why did he kill the monitor? Seems like he played too much Turok on his XBOX. I wouldn't want to sit in a godforsaken swamp, figuring out how to cure an infected monitor bite as big as a hand. But at least "it's good protein" and "loooaaaded with Vi-ta-min-C".

It did look like a pouch with his horizontal sheath. I enjoy Bear's show for what it is...it's entertaining. My son (age 9) continuously points out stupid and risky stunts he takes; I use it as an educational tool and have him explain what or how you he do it differently or safer.

I'm not sure about the pouch, but the Bayley does come with a very easy-carrying horizontal leather sheath.

I liked it so much, I had Rainwalker make me a sheath that I could carry vertially, horizontally, lefthand or righthand. It fits my Scrap Yard "Yard Keeper".

Im not familiar with the Bear knife, at that price I wont be. I do however absolutely love the sheath and now the pouch with it. would really like to find the sheath and pouch system for sale myself.

Have Rainwalker Creations make you one. He does great work. As for the knife, with the current exchange rate, the price is ridiculous. You could substitute a Fallkniven F1 or a nice Bark River and have a great setup at 1/3 the price.

I really like this! Though, I'm more of a Kydex and Cordura person. Seems all that leather would get thick quick.

We got any leather workers here who wanna undertake this one?

Check out the 'sheaths and such' subforum. There are lots of really talented leatherworkers on there. Jeff at Rainmaker is great, as is Leatherman. Really top-notch stuff. Either of those guys could make something similar I bet.

i don't care much for bear... he can be entertaining at times....

i really like that little pouch option.... though i don't know what the heck is so special about that knife, it definately doesn't look worth $700... is it just beacuse it says bear grylls on it...:jerkit:

It's not that the knife is worth $700 it's that the the dollar is worth so little next to the Pound.

indeed

the Woodlore knives were going for £300 from the shop while many customs made in the UK will be £200 ($400), often more for folders

Hey Vic do you use yours much ? I just wondered how the edge retention was compared to say the Scrapyard blades ?

even if the dollar was equal to the pound, it doesn't seem worth it. at that price, i think i'd be scared to scuff it up. the highest i would go would be a bravo-1.
