Man Vs. Wild Jungle Swamp - Knife sheath and small kit?

Yeah, it's not really the cost of the knife, it's the EU surcharge to support one lazy welfare recipient in each of the EU countries (two stinky lazy arses from France).

Hey Vic do you use yours much ? I just wondered how the edge retention was compared to say the Scrapyard blades ?

Yes, I use it frequently. The RWL steel is hard, about 60 RC. It holds its edge a bit better than the SR77 (S7). More like the SR101 that Swamp Rat uses. It's a very fine knife, but I could never recommend buying one at the current exchange rate.

Why would you find yourself helecoptering into a place that basically can't reach on foot?

He mentioned in the first two minutes about 5 times how he could be killed at an moment.

That is when I turned it off and wished for Survivorman to be on.

Why? So you could hear Les say things like, "If I don't get over this mountain, I could die...." or "If I can't find wood for a fire, I could die......." or "If I don't get warm, I could die......"

They both say things like that.

Cheers Vic. I will never be able to afford one anyway mate, but you have just said that you use it frequently, you are pleased with it's performance and you have a knife that not many other people have so to me it was money well spent....stuff what other people think eh !!!!;)

Even if the dollar was equal to the pound, it doesn't seem worth it. at that price, i think i'd be scared to scuff it up. the highest i would go would be a bravo-1.

Bravo-1 Black G-10 $239.95 retail. Bear 350.00 retail if the dollar and pound were the same.

I shelled out around $285.00 for a Stewart Marsh Bushcrafter once upon a time. Even at that I got "a deal" because it was a one off knife from High Seats website and the sheath had a flaw in the leather. I guess a retail Stewart Marsh goes for around £350 plus £8 p&p overseas ($722.35 US Dollars) now days so I WILL NOT be buying another one.

Do I regret buying it in the first place?

No, I wanted one and I bought it.

To be honest it is the best bushcraft knife I own out of a collection of a dozen or so knives with similar purpose and design. I gave up trying to find a better one some time ago.

That said I am currently playing with a Busse Game Warden.

Hummmmmmm an INFI bushcrafter...........

maybe I should go lay down for a while.

You can get the Bravo 1 - new for around $150.

no offense to bear, but i feel like the bravo-1 has been proven from the reviews i've read and the members of BF. the bear grylls knife may be spectacular, but when it comes down to it, bear really copped out when it was discovered that he was in a hotel during shooting. all i can think is, "is this really the name i want my survival tool attached to?" i know any knife can save you, but has he really proven its effectiveness? it's the same with the tom brown "tracker" for me. i feel that its total marketing. for the price of a bear grylls knife, you could get a superior custom.

btw, the bravo-1 does not cost over $200 and if the one you are pricing does, then look elsewhere.

i dont want to argue about bear. but i do really like the look of his knife and kit. it kinda reminds me of that ray laconica (sp?) backpacker knife that someone on here had made a little while back. id agree though that stacking that much leather gets right thick. id have to go with kydex in that particular situation -CB

I like the knife and the sheath, but I wouldn't want it with the signature and I wouldn't mind buying it from a production knife company if Bayley ever decided to sell the design. I don't need the "wonder steel", anything from 420HC to 440C would do it for me, too.
When I look at the RJ Martin Rampage made by Böker Plus in Taiwan, I think it could be done for less than 150$.
