Man-vs-Wild saves 9-year old's life

Glad the lil dude made it home safe. All else is secondary.

No, Jake, he's a stupid, ignorant, untrained, undisciplined little kid who screwed up by trying to save his own hide and recalling "knowledge" from a tv show.:D

Who are you guys posting about what he should have done. None of you know what you will do in that situation. You can only be prepared and hope for the best. It does not matter how much you ready yourselves: You just do not know how you will react unless you are put in that situation. people can sit and type and express how prepared they are, but the truth is that you do not know until you are put in that situation. Let us not analyze this in 10 pages, just be glad the kid had his wits about him and is okay.

For all of you who have lambasted him for keeping on the move while being lost.

No one is lambasting the kid. They are Lambasting the people who think the kid took the correct action by tearing up his rain jacket and moving away from the searchers.

Monday morning quarterbacks!

After being in the Marine Corps - getting a scared and panicked person to do ANYTHING that makes sense is a good thing.

Sure - he made some mistakes - but he did SOMETHING instead of panicking and running off in the woods. He also thought logically and traveled in a linear fashion.

He is also alive - I have seen better trained not make it.
