Man Vs. Wild tonight

Yeah... Doesn't one need to worry about sulfuric acid and gaseous emmission around geothermal pools?

I wonder if these are similar to the ones in Yellowstone national park because you dont have to worry about that stuff around those ones. Although then again most people are cooking their food in them.

I think Les Stroud's "Survivorman" is more authentic than "Man Vs. Wild" but enjoy both shows. You can actually get tips from both no matter how contrived the situation.
I like watching Grylls inventing more and more crazy situations for himself. Seems like each waterfall he climbs is more impossible than the last one.

you guys do realize most of the crazy things he does he says dont try this but if you do happen to already be in this situation the only way i can properly show you how to get out is by demonstrating it(ie escaping quicksand, getting out of a frozen lake, sliding down massive hills etc)

I think the bear man carries the type of knife that he thinks the average lost guy might carry, not what SAS types like him self might carry. I have only one question for bear at what temperature is elephant poop squeezings best served, at room temp or chilled, shaken not stirred

I heard that on the next episode, he is going to boil up those elephant poo sqeezin's in his shoe. Then dip the brown portion of his underwear in the hot squeezin's to rub in his eyes. Bear says "After the burning stops...your eyes are totally blood shot and thus not affected by blowing sand"

I personally know lots of SAS types and for the most part the knives they carry would be considered junk on this forum. If they are issued a quality knife they use and abuse it till it is destroyed then go back to supply and trade it in for a new one.

I love Bear, I know that statement is a contridiction but I can't help myself from watching it every week so I must love him.

How did he know how deep the river was with no rocks before jumping 30ft into it? How long do you have to lay in a geothermal mud puddle for your clothes to dry? How come he always finds dead animals, I am in the woods quite a lot and rarely find a carcass. How did he know the water he boiled his meat in was not poisonous?

I think following Bear, just you and him, without his camera crew, support crew, food and water, tents and dry clothes, which is all just out of the camera shot, is a good way to kill yourself. Chris

He lost any credibility after jumping down off a mesa in episode one, nevermind descending a waterfall without protection in ep2. He seems to expend WAY more calories and expose himself to stupid risks than appropriate for someone in survival mode, but that wouldn't make for good tv.
The title says it all: Man 'versus' wild.

I find man vs wild enterntaining while a little informative. You have to consider all the people that are not geared to Wilderness Survival have to find this show entertaining too. With the boiling as long as you don't smell sulfur coming from the boiling water you are fine, and if you banana dive you shouldn't go more then 5 to 6 feet deep into the water.

and he also said that the water was crystal clear and he could see all the way to the bottom so he knew there were no rocks... and you know his technique would drastically change if the camera crew were not there. Regular survival techniques just dont cut it on prime time tv thats why you dont see episodes of survivorman on anymore
