Manix 2 arrived...but not for me :(

That's too bad about your Manix2. I'm willing to bet it was one of the very few with any issues. I have found Spyderco's QC to be top notch. But a lemon can sneak by in any company's QC dept. once in a while.

Anyway , if you're not up for trying another Manix2 then I recommend the Yojimbo2 , Native5 G10 or Sage4. I own and have carried each for an extended period of time and they are all fantastic EDC's. I would say the Yo2 is my favorite Spyderco to date. And although I'm not a fan of liner locks , I've heard nothing but praise for the Gayle Bradley.

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I'm sure it was a very rare instance of a knife having play like that. I've had nothing but good Spydie experiences otherwise.

I'm not sure the manix is for me at all, to be honest. Really happy to see you recommend the Native 5 g10 as I've been eyeing since I sent out the manix. Shape seems similar to a strider pt/sng, which I'm into. Love the choils.

UGH! Decisions decisions...

The Native5 is a superb smaller knife for EDC. Excellent build quality (the steel liners and lock back mechanism join seamlessly). The blade has a nice taper so that it's thick at the base and thin toward the point. And unlike some other Spydercos , the blade is tucked away when in the closed position without leaving a lot of steel exposed. Very nice design.

I'd have sent back to Spyderco, waited (I know it sucks), got it back, then enjoyed it for the rest of my life.

Ditto others comments about you receiving an anomaly here. Have both the 2 and 2XL (prefer the XL) and theyre GREAT folders , well worth the money. Have other Spydies too, they tend to be serious about their quality control. Unless youre just soured on the whole deal, Id just return that one. Hey, anything made by man...

I used to have one. The lock was rock solid. If that were your only concern, I'd say send it back and get one that's working properly. That lock is an extremely good design.

I got rid of mine because I didn't like the design. It was too wide and was awkward to EDC for me. The PM2, however, is my perfect EDC. It replaced my old Manix, and I love it. Best decision I ever made was to replace my Manix with a PM2.

I've attempted to like the Manix, 3 times. Everytime I get it I remember that I dont like them and I dont think I ever will. The locks do vary, each one i've owned have their own lock traits. The last one was by far the best but the 1st was horrible. For my taste the Manix 2 is too wide in the pocket. The XL...feels like you're carrying an extra cell phone. lol....I guess i'm just a PM2 guy.
