Manix 2 FFG

II have the xhp manix and I love it. Super easy to get scary sharp, edge retention similar to zdp ,toughness close to a2 and its got good corrosive resistance. What is there not to love!? I like the lock better then the compression lock on my p2 but I like the blade shape better on my para.my perfect knife would be a bb lock on the para 2 with peel ply cf or that new g10 on new bd30p manix with 20cp ,s90 or m390

Btw the fact that it rolled and didn't chip would say something about its tougness no.what angle did you have it at?

30* with a 40* microbevel. It wasn't being used all that hard when it rolled, but those ffg Manix 2 blades are thin. Good slicer. I read through that thread linked above, and saw Mike Stewart say that XHP cuts aggressively like A2 and seems a little tougher than D2. D2 is known for being able to reach high hardness, not being tough. Not trying to stir the pot, it just would seem XHP wouldn't be able to be anywhere near as tough as A2 due to differences in composition.

You should look up some of those toughness test on brkt s forums. Xhp shouldn't hold an edge as long as it does if you look at its composition either but it does.found this one for you, maybe not as tough but very close like I said http://knifeforums.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/873942 and I certainly would not say d2 is not tough or there would be quite a few people with Ontario s rats in d2 that would be pissed.ka bar also uses d2 for some large fixed choppers.hopefully some of these real world test will help with your confused smiley from chemically makeup of the steel :D
