Manix 2 in Maxamet !

I had the same question so I called KW and they told me that they receive and distribute them as they come in, but that they only receive small batches of 5-10 at a time (kinda weird eh). If you call them they can tell you where you are in the queue and roughly when you can expect to receive it.

What the...? Is this just specific to KW or does Spyderco only send 5-10 at a time to all dealers??
I'm tempted to just cancel my pre-order and get a M390 PM2 from BBS.... >_>
This Maxamet Manix was supposed to hit the streets in October, now it's looking like it could be Christmas before I get mine :(

I think I paid $85 for mine at the seconds sale. I still haven't found anything wrong with it. I suspect Sal had a few first quality pieces marked and set out as treats.

The first dealer you mentioned is not (I don't think) a BF supporting dealer and they are notorious for not having items in stock despite what shows up on their webpage. Nationalknives is great though.

I called KW today and they told me the only ones they've received and sent out were the initial 5 they got as a "preview" or "premier" or something, can't recall the exact word she used.
She told me she wasn't able to tell me where I was in line or when I could expect to get a shipping notice.... :(
She did tell me that they only have about 30-35 pre-orders total, so I dunno. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope it reaches me before 2017.
Kind of an unsatisfying pre-order experience to be honest.

How could KW have only gotten 5 as of now, and other retailers have gotten more? I have no idea how distribution works on new models.

Sorry to hear that, Rasco. This kinda stuff is exactly what keeps me away from pre-ordering blades.

My guess is either there's some sort of bidding battle between the bigger players, they're trickling them out to build demand à la hyped electronic launches or something's gone awry in production.

I have a pre-order at Knifecenter and am still waiting.

I bought a brown XHP Manix from KC, but only because they had it as an exclusive and I wanted one. I called before to make sure it was actually in stock also, wouldn't suggest using them overall as I've had several bad experiences.

As to the maxamet ones taking a long time, could it possibly be because the steel is so hard to machine that it's taking longer to produce them?

Had my new Maxamet Manix 2 in my hoody pocket. Took hoody off. Manix falls out. Hits tile floor. Bounces once. Blade opens as it bounces. Comes down from bounce and lands tip first, apparently.

Dangit.

well, now you can learn how to sharpen it. that in any other knife would sharpen out. its probably just going to take a long time to do it. got any really course diamond stones?
