Manix 2 Lightweight Fake?

I got the knife from Soonerstateknives. I can attach pictures.
I've purchased several times from that seller and I assure you they do not deal in fake/counterfeit items. The sharpness of a knife is a very poor indicator of authenticity. In addition, every company have employees with "off days" at the sharpening station. It happens. The steel on that knife, S110V is very tough on manufacturing equipment because of it's high wear resistance and it may have not had enough attention, but it's tougher to sharpen than S30V, 154CM, and most anything else available out there in numbers. Enjoy your new knife.

Yep. Shouldn't happen. Hopefully Spyderco won't charge me for it.

Since it came dull do you think they'll still charge me for it?

You need to ask them, not us (the peanut gallery). We cannot speak for the manufacturer and wouldn't. Their contact info is on their website, along with their number.

Thanks for taking the time to reply with all that. I have contacted Spyderco but, since they're closed, I won't get a reply until tomorrow. A certainly hope they don't charge me and yes, I am aware that everyone has their "off days." It happens to the best of us. Again, thanks for the replies RevDevil.

I just got the same knife and mine is the dullest Spyderco that I have seen.

It doesn't really seem to be a widespread problem, as the YouTube videos I've seen have had them all razor sharp. Then again, I'm not sure if they were sharpened by the owner.

As RevDevil stated, S110V is a VERY durable steel, and can take quite a bit of time to get sharp. I just hope that Spyderco does a good job when I send it in to them.

Mine is very sharp. Cuts printer paper (0.0045" thick) and Yellow Pages (0.002") very nicely. I'm happy. The great majority of Spydercos that I've seen have been acceptably sharp, although it's pretty common to sharpen brand-new blades to your degree of satisfaction.
Since you are sending it in, specifically, to be sharpened...I would be quite surprised if it comes back to you with an unsatisfactory edge. Spyderco is, by far, my most purchased folder and my favorite brand in the price-range less than $300.

No worries GWTT. I'm sure they will help you out. The timing may be off because of Bladeshow, but such is life. My bet is that the belt they used got wasted. :D

Just dropped it off at the post office. It said the delivery date was Monday. Hopefully they'll receive the knife and make it right! I'm excited too, since I'm getting a Para2 in the mail Monday as well. So if all goes well, two things to look forward to on Monday. :D

I had a Benchmade that came shaving sharp, and a Kershaw that came butter knife dull. The edge that comes on a knife is in no way an indication of its authenticity. Your friend getting a dull fake was mere coincidence.
