Manix 2 Or Griptillian for edc??

Personally I would go with neither. For big and beefy I would go zt 0350 instead of the manix 2 and for a lightweight slicer I would go with a spyderco paramilitary 2 instead of the griptilian. I have all 4 of the knives mentioned and the 0350 and para2 find their way into my pockets far more than any of my other knives combined. I also usually carry a g10 dragonfly as backup for more socially sensitive situations.

Of the two you asked about though, I'd say manix 2 over the griptilian by a long shot. But I've got kind of a thing for spydercos. The handle on the griptilian just feels cheap and hollow to me and that is something I just can't get over.

Given the choice I would go with the Manix 2. It's a solid knife all around. While I like the modified sheepsfoot blade (and Spyderhole) on the Griptilian, the handle feels too "plasticky" to me. The standard Manix 2 has a bit more heft and feels great in the hand. Even better is the larger Manix 2 XL which has a killer flat ground S30V steel blade.

Manix 2 for me as well, I prefer the G10 handles on the manix, they're more solid feeling and grippy, but also flatter so you notice them less in pocket. I also just got the Manix XL and am loving it, really hoping for a couple sprints for it.

Alright,
Well, I've Owned Both And Love Both. I Don't Have A Manix 2 At The Moment And Want Another One Badly. But Here's My Two Pennies. It Depends On What You're Looking For. The Manix 2 Is The Same Overall Length At Like 8" Overall.
So Length Isn't An Issue. The Manix 2 May Be Slightly Thinner. It's A Big Beefy Knife With The Same Blade Steel. If You Get The Benchmade 550HG You'll Also Get A Hollow Ground Blade, Like On The Manix 2, And A Thumb Hole. The Main Difference Is The Handles. The Handles On The Manix 2 Are Grippy Nice G-10. They Feel Nice And Solid. It's A Big Hard Working Knife. But It Also Weighs More Than The Griptilian. Light Weight Is Nice.

My Nice Cutter Is My Paramilitary 2. My Heavy Duty Blade Is Going To Be My Griptilian. It May Have Plastic-Ish Handles But They Are Strong, Thick, Light, Grippy, And I Don't Feel They Feel Cheap At All. It's As Solid Of A Knife As A Manix 2 But Less Weight And Heavy Duty.

Really You're Good With Either Choice. The Manix 2 Is Quite Wider Though.

They Are Both Wonderful Knives And You Can't Go Wrong With Either Of Them.

Really It's Based On Personal Opinion Here...
Try To Handle Both, And Then Make Your Decision.
Any Information Except What Is Simple Fact Like "The Manix Has G-10 Scales" You Get From Anyone Here Will Be Based On Personal Opinion.
Like If Someone Says "The Scales On The Grip Feel Cheap" That's An Opinion.
So Really, I Think You Should Handle Them Both And The Decide For Yourself.
Then You'll Have Your Own Opinion.
All We Can Do Is Give You Our Personal Opinions And You'll Still Have To Guess On Which One To Go With Because You'll Be Torn Because Of All Of The Different Opinions..

Are you typing on a phone, BladeChick777? It's a little painful to read a post where every word is capitalized. :S

Also, I'd recommend the Manix, because it is a better value, the G10 feels better in the hand, and it is built a bit tougher. Also, it comes sharp, and Spyderco's customer service department is easier and more pleasant to deal with.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I prefer the Grip. I'm a sucker for a good Axis Lock though. And like someone else said, I prefer the Para2 to the Manix2.

I have both. I carry the Manix2 more. For me the feel of the Manix2 just works better. But you won't go wrong with either no matter which you choose.

What knarfeng said. I love my grips, but the Manix 2 feels more solid in hand.

Spyderco knocked it out of the ballpark with the Manix 2, and Manix 2 XL

I have the Gripi also, but a few reasons the Manix finds it's way into my EDC:

1. Spyderco choil, if it closes on you there is some protection for your finger
2. G10 baby!
3. Ball bearing lock is different than the axis lock, feels different, spring is stronger

If both are in the same price range +- $5 the manix 2 is a much better feeling knife then the grip.

I have an M4 Manix on the way. Super stoked as I really like the handle colour.

For some od reason Spydercos are more expensive here (south africa) then an equal value knife from any other manufacturer. If that is the case, get the grip.

At the end...get both :) that way you will never wonder.

So thats the only reason people prefer the manix, G10 handles. I handled them both yesterday but couldn't decide which. I guess I'll go back to the knife store and compare them side by side.

I have 19 Manixes, of one type or another, and 1 Griptilian. The Griptilian gets more pocket time. It's lighter, and as good as the CBBL is, Axis-lock knives are more fun to play with.
