Manix 2 or paramillitary 2?

I am looking into getting either the pm 2 or the manix. Any advice? They both seem good in different ways.

I would go Paramilitary 2. Smooth action, good feeling handle, and I really like the compression lock. I would say go Manix 2 if you like the leaf blade shape. But in my experience, the ball-bearing lock was a bit stiff. You are not going to get that Axis lock fun with it. In fact you would get that swing close action from the PM2 rather than the Manix

I only have experience with the PM 2, and it is a great knife. Cuts like a laser, great ergos, big chunky handle that provides great grip. I have always wanted a Manix, because I love the leaf shape blade. It also has great reviews, but may be a little heavy. I would pay attention to the weight, if I was choosing. But either way, I have no doubt you will get a great knife.

My manix almost drops closed freely when I unlock it.
I prefer the Manix 2. I like the PM2, and love the compression lock, but the Manix just speaks to me more. Mainly because of the blade shape and ergos.
I couldn’t have said it better

I agree. Had both, a g10/S30v Manix and S30v PM2.

The BBL on my Manix was very stiff and never loosened up enough for me to like it.

I still have the PM2 , gave the Manix to a co-worker.

They're both great knives. If I'm doing work that's a little more intense I go with Manix. If I just need a good all around EDC I go with the PM2. The Manix is heavier (unless you get lightweight) and the lock is less fun to play with, but I feel like it's a stronger lockup. The PM2 and the compression lock are very fun to fidget with.

I tend to lean towards the Manix just a wee bit because I've owned 3 of them, it was my first Golden model and $100+ Spydie and it's grown on me.

Manix2 does the hard peanut spread job well, but the s90v does it the best without lots of resharpening.

ya the peanut-butter still sticks to the CF, slicker handles are needed.

I have 4 Manix, and 2 Paras, and if I could do it over again I'd switch them. The Manix made me fall in love with Spyderco, but the Para2 beats it in almost every way. The Para excels with a small size, where the Manix is a tank in the pocket.

Just be aware of that the compression lock is less lefty friendly (unless you get a left handed Para2).

I have a few of both and there is no wrong answer.
Manix has better ergos, a great lock....all of mine can be manipulated like an axis lock.....maybe cause I work out??? :D
Excellent knife in many regards!
Para 2 is an absolute classic that is a must have!
You will probably own both eventually, so choose the one that catches your eye more.
Good luck!

Lol.....was waiting for someone to say that. :)

I throw granite slabs and block around for 8 hours a day. Must not be enough.:(

Can you recommend a good gym?

:D :D

The granite slabs should suffice Todd!!!
:p

I have a few different runs of both and for some reason I gravitate towards the Manix II. my dilemma just grew as I received the Manix II Backlock and after some time adjusting and tweaking I got the knife to flick open and drop when closing. It is thicker in blade spine and width of actual knife. It is a tank and it rivals the Shaman in performance. If you want a real hard working knife get the Manix II backlock, if you want to also put your hand in your pocket go with the PM2 and try to find an S35 with the brown scales. All three of these knives are fantastic edc blades. The most grown up way to decide is giving three people one each of a paper with the model on it then get 10 more people and seat them around in a circle and here's the clincher, play duck duck goose, it works for me every time.

How about some pics
