Manix 2 or paramillitary 2?

Have 2 standard Manix 2's----one plain--one combo-----once the newness wore off I just can't seem to put an edge back on either of them with the Sharpmaker----so they sit unused and unloved.

No such issues with my PM2 and I'll eventually get a second one---------doubtful I will even look at another Manix-------going to visit the mothership in June, maybe I'll see what they can do for me about my Manix's.

I like the paramilitary 2 because I feel it slices things better. I really really like both knives though.

Both great knives, but I would definitely choose the PM-2 due to the excellent compression lock. The lock on my 3 yr. old Manix is still very stiff.

I have a left handed PM2. At first the compression lock was SUPER stiff and seemed to be catching on something, it was really annoying and down right painful to open. I ended up pushing on it repeatedly (like 100 times) when the knife was closed. Now the lock is smooth. Next issue was the detent being stiff, and it generally being a bit stiffer than you would want when opening. basically I lubricated the pivot, didn't adjust it at all, and now the whole thing is super smooth and almost fall-shutty. I estimate i opened and closed it about 2000 times before it broke in perfectly. Just something to think about. I've never held a manix, but I sold all my Benchmade axis lock knives because they would sometimes catch my palm when closing while using that axis lock close method, so the thought of the manix ball bearing lock kinda bugged me. anyhow i carry the PM2 daily. It goes in the same pocket as my card wallet. no issues pulling the wallet out. Took forever to break in, but it's a dream now.

I’ve got both and enjoy carrying them. I’ve had my manix 2 lightweight for a couple years now and still really like it. It does take up a little more space in my pocket than my pm2 though. Pm2 is definitely slicker opening and closing than the manix 2. The manix 2 isn’t bad at all though. It’s still one of my favorites. I don’t think you could go wrong either way. As an earlier post said, get both:)

Okay, as i stated in my comment above, i'm a PM2 guy. Never held a manix, but because of this thread i ordered amazon and got it. I wanted to see what it was all about. First thing, the blade centering was a bit off. Not the end of the world but my PM2 came perfect, which is weird because they come from the same factory. Obviously they can't all be perfect, I know it's just a quality control thing, but it still bothered me. Second, the knife is significantly heavy and very beefy. This thing is HARDCORE. I thought the PM2 was hardcore, but this is on another level. Feels rock solid in the hand, and ergonomics are very nice! BUT, it's just a bit too big and hardcore for me to EDC so i'm returning it. To be honest i mighta kept it if the centering was perfect, but that bugged me. Also, i'm not one to complain about heavy knives for EDC, but this might be past me threshold for weight, it definitely weighs down the pocket. So that's my 2 cents. It's HUGE and very hardcore. I can see wanting to have one around, but i can't justify the purchase because it's too big and unnecessary for me to carry. Cool knife though.

You might consider a Lightweight version of the Manix in the future, never held one myself but people seem to love its weight.

Those of you with Manix or PM2 in sv30 and 235v do you actually notice any difference or is it in your head?

Also does anyone have a good pic of the Manix and pm2 lined up side by side.

The PM2 flicks open easily, closes by gravity, compression lock is nice, comes in a variety of blade steels, the tip appears a bit fragile, although I've never had a problem with it.

Also flicks open & closes easily and also comes in a wide variety of blade steels. This one's a lightweight version, which I like. Takes up more room in the pocket than the PM2.

I've had many of both models...
The PM2 is my preference for general carry. The Manix 2 is a fine knife but it's a real rock in the pocket. Very high measurement from top to bottom...just too much of a slab for me... All personal taste, of course.

I might try out the lightweight.

I like my Manix 2, been carrying it for years on weekends. It’s a tank and very good in the hand. The lock is lovely. Had a Manix 2 LW, I really didn’t care for it. It’s just as useful but unnervingly light.

Vs the PM2... the PM2 probably carries better, but it’s hard to compete with the Manix 2 lock.

I'm honestly curious why the chapa, or domino, or sage(nice with g10+peel cf?) were not included in choice list... I have trouble deciding with all of them.

Right now I keep leaning to the more expensive domino, but they are so nice with Ti+cf
