Manix 2 question

My brand new manix 2 g10 s110v has already developed some blade play so I took the washers out and polished them....well the problem got worse so now I need new washers so does anyone know what the size and thickness of them are? Any suggestions on new washers like replacing them with nylon ones?

What ever made you think that if you had side to side play to start with, wearing away more material would make it fit tighter? Some people shouldn't take apart things, knives included. No shame in admitting you're not mechanically inclined, the world need people to do other things too. ;) .

Take it apart again and measure them or bring them with you into a hardware store. Spyderco doesn't seem to like people taking apart their knives.

If fakes could easily be made, the washers must be easy to find

Unless you have quality measuring equipment I wouldn't even try. I'm willing to bet anyone who had a micrometer or a dial caliper at the very least would know that polishing the washers will only make the blade play worse.

ETA, just bite the bullet and send it in for repair if you can't get replacements. You could always make friends with a machinist.

There is very little harm in sending it to Spyderco. At worst you'll be out shipping & handling charges and get the knife back in the same condition you sent it. At that point, you can start shopping knife supply shops for washers.

I'm a fix it myself type of guy too. As often as not, it gets me into trouble. Some lessons I refuse to learn! :p

Some people just shouldn't take things apart, I have a friend who can't unscrew a mayonnaise jar without messing it up trying to open or close it. o_O

Sorry if I missed it, but did you try adjusting the pivot to do away with the play??
If not, tiny tiny adjustments at a time. This has always worked for me.

Well, I say send it back to spyderco, it sounds like a defect
Not a defect anymore. He removed metal from the washers. That is on him now, not spyderco. Asking for replacement under warranty wouldn't exactly be honest unless how he modded the item is disclosed. At that point I doubt spyderco would replace the parts for free, as would be their right.

Yes, this usually works and still might even after polishing the washers.

does anyone know the dimensions of the washers?

Wait. That's your original question, right? Just asking again? I'm confused.

It is the original question. Clearly no one knows here, and it is an odd thing to know. Perhaps on the spyderco subforum might know but that is getting into spreading company manufacturing info.

My advice (that I said earlier, seems we are repeating stuff) is to send it in and pay to have them make it right. If that is a no go, order several washer widths from a knife supply place and experiment. They are very inexpensive. I've done it.

Yeah i just ordered like 50 different pairs of washers from usaknifemaker and it only cost me about 12 dollars
