Finally, completed this handle rebuild this week, after ordering and receiving some 1/8" blade pivots with 2-56 screws and some shorter 0.170" 2-56 torx button head screws. Every hole in the handle that had a rivet was drilled out to to 1/8".The hardest areas to drill out, was the stainless steel back spacer and figure 8 shaped pivot support arms. After drilling it out,I got a piece of 1/4" 416 SS on to a lathe turned it down to approx 5.30MM and drill a hole through, with the help of a cutoff, some 416ss washer were made.

That's quite a sharp modification. I understand the desire to swap the S110V blade into a set of G10 scales, but don't like the idea of wasting the stock scales. You've devised quite a nice solution, and I actually think the black blade looks much nicer than the satin, as it is complimented by the black CBBL cage. Very well done!

Nice mod! Have you perhaps considered a dark wire clip swap also? I am not sure but I think a Sage1 clip might work. Perhaps someone who knows for sure could comment. I have been toying with the idea for my S110V Manix.
Cheers...

Looks really nice, do you have any other pics that were taken during the process? I'm thinking of upgrading the scales on my S110V Manix 2.

I think it looks great, I would make that into a work knife for sure.

Thanks for the kind words and the RD seal of approval.

No.I don't have other pics of the process.Actually just started on my second one tonight,I can tell you that the rivet are hard to remove, regardless of whether you drill or mill them. Time and patience is key,as they the rivets tend to revolve because they are not extremely tightly riveted.Tried drilling the heads off and succeed in chipping my carbide drill, ultimately when back to milling at a slow pace.

I will get some other pics up soon.

Very cool.
Subscribed.

Just wondering, would the screw/rivets from any of the Seki knives work for this?

where can i buy the screws used for this?

also do you know the rivet diameter?

i want to put screws in so i can take my knife apart when i need to and i would like to have the screws in hand before i remove the rivets

Why did you swap the blade again?

No,I have a total of three S110V Manix2 knives. The most recent one done was actually my very first ,the second was DLC coated S30V and third, the satin flat ground EDC forums S30V blade.I like them better now as I can clean them if I see the need. The blade lockup is tight with an extremely minute amount of wiggly,if really looking which is excellent but not the rock solid lockup of a BNIB S110V Manix 2.

Oh I gotcha, I thought it was all different blades being rotated through the same handle.
So you prefer the lower blade steels in the FRN handle, and I'm assuming you put the S110V blades into the G10 handles where those came out of?

Yes,as the title states S110V blade swaps - lower end blade steels into the Blue FRN handles.

The First, being a satin 154CM hollow ground Manix 2 with full steel liners, the second, an S30V DLC coated Hollow ground Manix 2 with full steel liners and ,the third,an EDC Forums Moonglow Manix 2 with skeletonized liners and a full flat ground S30V blade.

Bump for an old thread.

Because of a new project I will be undertaking.

Not much point now with regular production S110V Manix 2's coming out in slab style G10/liner construction.

No sense in ruining a lightweight model and being stuck with an extra blade and a broken handle...

For me it is not necessarily a blade up grade.

I like to be able to open it for cleaning and removing fine beach sand.

Or to be able to do any Frankin build with any future steel
the factory will offer with either G10 or LW.

Just because 110 is the "" in thing"" I would like the option
of opening a LW like any other knife.

Or maybe the FACTORY will start making LIGHT WEIGHTS in
nut and bolt fashion instead of PIA RIVETS.

Yeah that would be great! I'm betting they make the change. Just like they did with the salts.
