i dont know if this is old news or some kind of mistake, but when were manix 2 knives made in s30v other than sprint runs?

bladehq here has it in s30v i might just have to pick this up.....

does any one know when they upgraded? or if its a mistake? or if this is limited?

sorry if this has been posted before. feel free to lock or delete thread.

It's a rolling change, they are to be S30V from now on. I'm just waiting for them to run out of the clear locks.

This is true sir! I got mine a few days ago. It was a rolling change from 154cm to cpm-s30v. With no price increase!

thats great news and care to elaborate on the clear locks? are they migrating to black ones like ive seen?

I assume so, they said the black ones were going to be a rolling change as well, as the plastic is tougher? I just hate the look on the clear ones. :P

im about ready to get one of these, however, i hear s30v doesnt take a good polish is that true? i was thinking of sending out some of my knives for polishing.

Don't believe everything you hear. ;)

I my own experience, S30V performs much better with a slightly toothy edge. I's say around 300 grit and it stays scary sharp if done correctly.

how much of a lower quality are the translucent blue manix 2s?

Not lower quality per se, but different steel and lighter weight. Some people panic with a 4-5 ounce knife in their pocket.

As I understand it, it's more of a "perception" type thing. I remember seeing some posts where people were concerned about the durability of the clear lock - apparently they thought that the entire lock was a clear polymer and neglected to realize that the functionality of the lock is based on the ball bearing encased in the polymer. Since the lock is now entirely black, some may view it as less "weak," even though the design hasn't changed.

A moot point if you simply prefer the black lock due to the color change.

Just bought a Manix 2 off a guy on YT. I believe its 154CM with the clear cage. I wasn't aware of any problems with the first models but i'll see when it gets here.

There was some issues, but that was resolved with Constant Quality Improvement back in 2010. I also use the same model as yours and have been for some time without any problems.

Good to hear. Seeing as how it was sold NIB I don't expect it be be 2 years old, but you never know. It should be arriving in the next day or so.
