Hey all,
So I recently decided that I wanted to purchase a Spyderco Manix after hearing a ton of great things about the knife. But now I am stuck on what model to get. The lightweight or the regular. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks

I'd go with the normal g10 Manix and skip lightweight for now.

I have both and I like both, but they are somewhat different.

Obviously one difference is weight. The LW model is very light and that makes it unique for a knife other than lockback that has a good sized blade. But it is FRCP and some people would prefer G10.

The other difference is G10. If you would rather have G10 then you pick this one, but it is significantly heavier. Granted when carried clipped to the pocket of my tight jeans I can't tell which knife I'm carrying or what it weighs, but I do find the standard Manix 2 to feel heavier. Today I'm carrying a PM2 which I think is a good weight for EDC. Yesterday I was carrying a G10 Manix 2 and I didn't notice the weight but it is a little heavier than the PM2.

Another thing to consider for some people is the blade steel. Each model is available in different blade steels so if you have a preference that will steer you one way or the other. The last consideration could be price. The G10 model is a real bargain especially if you find one used. The LW models can be a bargain but it is harder to find used ones. If you are interested in a certain steel then that can get pricy if you want one of the past limited editions.

I was planning on getting the manix lw bc of the s110v, but saw theres a blue g10 manix2 s110v coming...might be worth holding out if you prefer g10.

Had both, didn't care for the feel of the LW and never carried it. I sold the LW and kept the G10. Different strokes for different folks.
