Manix 2 VS ZT 0566

Well guys, I gave it some good, hard thought last night before bed. Woke up this morning and took a final look at this thread, making sure to read everyone's comments. Just placed my order for the Manix 2. Thanks for all the great feedback! I'm sure the ZT would have been just fine, but I'm glad I went with the Manix.

Well, coming in a little late here, but my main beef with the Manix (and most spydercos for that matter) is they generally feel like a dinner plate clipped to my pocket. Love the way they handle and cut, I've just never been able to get past the way they carry.

I opted for the standard black g10 s30v model. I was very close to going with the blurple s110v, but it's hard for me to wear any type of purple. (I'm a Jayhawk fan) lol. Also, this will keep me from caring if it gets beat up.

You can always wait til you see a S110V lightweight on the exchange for cheap and swap the blades.

It doesn't take much aside from a drill, and some new screws to rebuild the lightweight with the s30v blade.

Great choice! I love the weighty feel of that one!! It's a beast!
Enjoy it Heart!!

digging crap out of an engine, or prying up a warped dash for replacement.

Get the ZT.

Not because it is thick and heavy.

But when you finally break or bugger up the blade.
Send it in to ZT for a reblade.

Get a Screw driver.. Works better for your task

The knife will be used 99% of the time for cutting boxes, thin rope, and envelopes. Worst case scenario it'd be used for digging/prying, but that's unlikely.

Hope you like the Manix. I just could not get over the pocket size so I sold the one I have.

Good choice. Do note that the standard S30v does not have the skeletonized liners like the S110v version, which adds about an ounce. Of course both are lighter than the ZT.

The cruwear sprint has milled liners, though every stock black G10 that I have owned model did not.

I actually prefer the solid liners. I don't carry much else, so the weight doesn't bother me. A while back, I was carrying around a full ti Grayman Satu. It was part of a review a did a while back, so I only did it for 3 days. But even that knife at over 10 oz wasn't that big of a deal.

No doubt you will enjoy the Manix2. Although I personally prefer a heavier blade for tasks like heavy cable ties and such. Maybe that's why I started to carry two blades. One for the heavy tasks, and one for the lighter razor type needs.

If you will only carry one knife for all the tasks mentioned in the op, I would highly recommend adding a small pry tool to your keychain. They do not add much weight at all, but I find them useful all the time. Even used mine for prying off a dash in my wife's minivan to get deep enough to replace the bulb behind the clock.

Keep the knife for cutting. And let the prytool do the prying.

Got my Manix 2! This knife seems to wrap around my hand. Almost like it was molded for me specifically. Ergos are unbelievable. Needs to break in a little, but otherwise perfect in every way. Came razor sharp, perfectly centered, solid lock up. So happy. Thank you to everyone who helped me make this choice!

Talk like this is making it even harder to resist getting a blurple 110v. I think I'll hold out and see if an XL version pops up...

Can't go wrong either way! I have the s90v cf manix 2 XL. Love it. Little too big for me to edc, but a fantastic knife nonetheless!

Agreed that the Manix has some of the best ergos on a knife, period.

Congrats on your new Manix. It's definitely a worker!

Congrats Heart!!!! Get a touch of lube in that pivot and flick away bro!!!
Enjoy!
