Manix 2 XL and Puukko

The XL is the whole reason I've put off buying a Manix 2. Anyone have a street price for these? Maybe $150?

About 30% less than that.

I. Asked that question on SF a few months ago. Sal said he thought the Puukko was set for this year. So since it's nearly the end of the year I think Spyderco might be a bit behind on their release date. If it isn't released this month, I imagine it will be verry soon.

the XL manix 2 is very appealing. FFG S30V and nearly 4" blade? im gonna have to get one :D

I was excited about the Manix 2 XL until I saw they gave it the same teeth-all-over treatment as the Manix 2. Too much work dismantling it, grinding off all that crap and reassembing it. Pass. The Puuko looks nice, and I'll have to get the Sage 4. Aside from that, it looks like a slow year.

right there with you.... ive smacked myself in the face to keep from making up reasons to buy knives i dont need.
the techno, pygmy, and para 2 sprints will be what i get. if the szabo and tuff make it i may consider them

Manix 2 XL is a must buy for me. I like larger folders.

I'm excited for the Szabo too.

So far Spyderco is winning my folder dollars for next year.

Reading too much between the lines and a bit of wishful thinking had me believing we'd see a large Manix 2 with a re-engineered back lock and a new steel.... oh well dreams are free but I''ll pass on this one.

You and me both knife bro. A LOT of wishful thinking for me. When I saw the XL manx, the CBBL made it look all wrong to me. And I bet that blade stock is going to be 3mm instead of 4mm on the old manix.

Was really hoping for an upgraded Millie :(

I'm not exactly sure how the Military could be upgraded.

As for the Manix 2 XL, it needs a tip down option. I've had more than one Manix 2 open up in my pocket, resulting in exsanguination and cut pants. The larger blade in the XL would be even more likely to do that. I carry lots of stuff in that same pocket (keys, etc.) , which can get in the Spydie hole and open up the knife if its carried tip up. This may not be the case for other folks.

I've not had a Manix 2 open in my pocket yet, but I don't carry one very often, either. The lack of tip-down carry on ball bearing, caged ball bearing, Bolt Action and axis locks is the biggest reason I don't carry any of them much. I know the tip down clip would interfere with releasing the lock, but I've been bitten enough times to prefer tip down almost to the exclusion of tip up only.

You hit the nail on head here Yab, That's always been my #1 gripe with the BBL's & Axis. I ended up getting rid of my S90V M2 mostly because of this . At work tip up carry for me very is a dangerous game.

So does this xl manix pretty much have the same physical dimensions of the original fullsize manix, but with the ball lock instead of the back lock?.

If it is then I am definately excited..
