Manix 2 XL, should i have purchased a PM2

The Manix XL is too large for me to use as a daily carry/edc knife. For me, the PM2 is a better option between the two.

Awesome pics Suzuki!!!!
The Manix will loosen up. Suggestion....if it is a little tight now, get a little lube where the blade meets the washers and flick away a bunch! If that doesn't loosen it up, adjust the pivot A LITTLE!!!
My blurple was a little tight when new. Little Blue Lube and lots of flicking and this is how it looks when lock is depressed......blade just drops open!!

Both are awesome knives. Manix 2 and pm2 also constantly get the sprint treatment which makes they even more awesome

Now that is an awesome pair right there Suzuki!!!! Congrats and enjoy them!!
The Manix will loosen up. Before trying to adjust the pivot, get a little lube between the blade and the scales. Right by the washers. The. Open and close a bunch. If this doesn't loosen it up in a few days, loosen the pivot a little bit.
I don't have an xl, but I do have a handful of Manix's!!!!
If you're looking for scales, check out Allen Putman. He has them in stock and you can install yourself.
Or check out Steve Ketchen here on the forum. He does hand made ones!

I have both the Manix 2 XL and Paramilitary 2. I love them both, but the Manix 2 XL is my favorite Spyderco. It fits my hand perfectly, and I just feel like I could do some serious work with it and abuse the hell out of it. I will buy an S110V version if and when they make it (any news on that anyone, I'm DYING for an S110V Manix 2 XL). I carry my Manix more than any other knife.

One thing I did to make the Manix go from great to perfect is I cut down the lock spring. To me, the ball bearing lock spring is oversized or too strong. I thought about replacing it with a weaker spring, but couldn't find anything the right size. So, I cut mine down a bit. I THINK I took 1.5 coils off of it. It was something in that neighborhood. I have been using it for about a year now with no issues. The lock no longer is sticky, and it's much easier to close one-handed (like a BM Axis lock). I wish Spyderco would dial back the pressure, but it's easy to do yourself.

Also, if one of your Spydercos is too tight for you, here's how to fix it (if you're adventurous enough to do some modifications). By the way, this stuff might void your warranty, I'm not really sure. Take apart the knife. Using sandpaper, polish the following surfaces: inside surface of the liners where the bushings contacts them, both sides of the blade where the bushings contact them, and both sides of both washers. To do this, start with 220grit, go to 400grit, 800grit, then 1000-1200grit sandpaper. You can also use 2000grit to finish if you want, but I usually stop at 1200. The washers don't take much, they are soft metal. Don't take too much off. When you start with 220grit, you just want to go far enough so that the surface looks uniform. Same with each subsequent step. For the washers, I usually put a piece of sandpaper on the table and rub the washer on it with my finger. For the liners and blade, I do the opposite. That is, place the blade/liner down and hold the paper. Finally, polish it up with some jewelers rouge or green stropping compound. Lube it up, and you'll be good to go. I do this to every knife I buy and they're all smooth as glass.

Thank you, I am not sure if I am that adventurous yet haha but I'm getting there. I appreciate the time and info I will definitely save it and put it into practice for sure

i feel the manix 2 is a bit on the heavy side!but i only have the G10 drilled out liners version of it,that i never carry, its a grate knife though i prefer PM2 over it!just get both.

You'll be fine, I promise. Anybody with any skill set can do it. Buy wet/dry sandpaper so that you can wet it and keep the paper clog free. It also resists tearing more.

Thank you, I love your 710. I have a ton of knives from all different makers, but I seem to gravitate towards my small spyderco offerings the most. I really want to find a NIB D'Allara Drop Point though, that's the only one that's gotten away from me so far.
