Manix 2's ball bearing lock is kinda tough

"Breaking in" is not necessary. The perceived difficulty in operating the lock on this knife arises from the design of the lock itself. Unlike the Axis Lock, the ball bearing works independently of its intersection with the handle scales. The cage simply cannot exert even pressure when pushed from only one side. On an Axis knife, the lock blocking the tang extends beyond the handle itself, reducing the pressure needed to move it. The Manix does have a nice, hefty spring, too.

You basically have to pinch the ball cage between index finger and thumb to actuate it.

The ball bearing will wear extremely evenly, so I hope yours is as smooth as it should be. Give the "pinch" method a try.

Nice, I like that clip alot. I really look forward to atleast trying it out. That said. As much as I do not care for the stock clip. It does draw out rather evenly. Nice scale too, sweet texture.

Hey Matt,

Here's my regular Manix 2 with a spaceman clip and Allen Putman scales. His clips are really great. Awesome fit, sits in the pocket really well.

Guys, it has broken in . I can now open and close the knife with one hand with ease.
My middle finger has a witness mark of the blade dropping when I release the blade while upright last night. :P

The problem now is, my other knives are feeling cheap now . The Manix 2 has a great sound and feel when locking up . The detent is awesome.
What knife can I get that feels like Manix 2 ?
I have a ZT 0566 blackwash on order. I hope it has the same feel.

Got my Manix CF S90V when it was first released in, if I remember well... 2009. It is my EDC!

The action of opening is super smooth and the lock up, tight and secure.

Yes, closing the lock, takes a moment more than my other knives due to the semi-tightness of the ball lock.

However, nothing out of the real-ordinary.

Absolutely... great knife and super secure lock!
