I didn't care for the leaf style blade on my Manix, so I reprofiled it more like my Military (I think it turned out more like a Paramilitary). I used water and took my time to ensure the blade stayed cool. Mods include lighter triple springs, silicon nitride ball, and polished lock interfaces. Being a Lefty, this is a great lock design!
As the width of the blade has been reduced, it also feels less bulky in the pocket.
If the blade was a thick as my Military, this would be near perfect.

It now flicks open without touching the blade, thumb hole, or lock

Having been stabbed more than once with large, tip-up blades that opened in my pocket, I'm too chicken to carry one like this. But I recently acquired one of these knives and think its awesome - especially at $93 shipped or whatever - and I like to see guys like you modding and tweaking your knives.

Looks cool! I wonder if you could post a picture of the knife closed all the way? I am interested in seeing its profile closed.

That's pretty cool, but I don't like exactly how the tip sits in the handle. There's like too much empty space.

I'm unlucky as well. I've been stabbed twice with a tip-down and once with a tip-up knife. Nothing bad, but I guess I'm cursed no matter which way I carry them! :(

Looks great! Are you a machinist?
Simple answer is no, more of a hobbyist. But I did take machine shop for four years, worked as a Millwright for Timken Steel in the early '80s and apprenticed with a tool and die maker in the mid '80s and for most of the '90s. I can run a lathe, vertical and horizontal mills, surface grinders, etc... and have access to pretty much every type machine tool at work. We have half a dozen machine shops on base.

Looks kinda odd closed, that said, I like the look open. Only thing I would change, if it were mine, is to round the top a little just above the spyder hole, looks to pointy to me.

I really like the blade shape of the Manix 2XL however you did class A work and I do like the way this blade turned out. Great job!

That's a really good job from the looks of it. I think a heat colored pocket clip would complete the package;)

Thanks for the compliments! I usually carry larger knives, but this modded Manix has pushed my Military out of EDC when I wear dress clothes or go to restaurants.
