I'm putting the toughest folder debate to rest...i'm gonna get a 6 foot doulbe-handed broadsword, cut it in a dozen pieces and then add hinges. It will fit in my pocket, and unreservedly be the baddest folding blade around. Now-
where would I put an infringed spydiehole???

LoL! don't forget to "wave" it!

In all honesty, I wasn't trying to make a stink. The topic of the thread is so absurdly fanboy and silly that it would put any mature knife enthusiast on his bad side.

Nobody here raked him over coals, either, just disagreed. I didn't even disagree because I necessarily thin the Manix isn't one of the toughest folders around, it's just how ignorantly he worded his statement that annoyed me. He's been into to knives on a quality level for what, a few weeks now? He's done no testing, he has no experience, he's just a fanboy running his mouth.

It's not just this one statement, either, but I'm not going to get into that as it really doesn't belong here. I've already gone too far.

Rat has been into Spyderco longer than you have, and knows a great deal more about knives in general. I'd be suprised if he didn't return with some knowledge for you.

The Chinook II is most likely a stronger overall folder than the Manix due to the thicker, hollowground spine, and thicker tip, and that's not even leaving the same neighborhood.

to be honest with you, i dont care what you think or if rat has been here longer. the truth is he made a statement saying i was wrong and then followed up with nothing to prove the validity of his statement. that is cheap. The manix is thinner than the chinook? i think you are wrong and need to reread some things before you start spouting off false things. the blades of the Manix and Chinook are the exact same in thinkness, (4mm). so to say the chinook is thicker is incorrect. the manix is more blade. the chinook 2 and the manix i have are both flat grind blades and when compared equally, i tend to go with the manix. the drop point blade of the manix is nice as well.

someones post count on a forum is really not important. if you think that someone is to be seen correct in what they say because "they have been here longer" then you got another thing coming.

stephan, the Manix carries well depending on how you like to carry. i was carrying it strong side in my front right pocket. it carried fine there but i wasnt able to use the pocket very much.. so i went to the gun show and came across a little 3 dollar sheath made of nylon that fit the Manix PERFECTLY and i have been carrying it on my belt in the sheath on my right hip and i can draw it very fast and i forget i have it half the time. i suggest anyone who is looking for a miller folder to get the full sized manix. as for your question, i have held the mini manix and i like it, however, i like the full sized one more. to me there isnt that much of a difference in the 2 so i went with the full sized one. get ya a good cheap sheath that fits the manix good and carry away!

Alright, let's just let it go and get back on topic. There's not really anything to be gained here.

Did you ever get those pics up?

yea i did, i postyed a link to them... i had like a few minutes to use my friends camera and i didnt know what i was doing with it. haha. so they arent the best but i will repost the link... (these are not the ones with the Manix attached to the AK) having the manix on the end of the gun posed to big a threat of slashing one of my neighbors so i took it off and retired it back to its home in the sheath on my belt, but here is my AK47. amazing gun!

I have the hollow ground Chinook II, and a Manix. At the spine, the thickness is the same, but the full thickness of the Chinook's blade stock goes down much farther than the manix, and is therefore stronger. The tip is also much thicker on the Chinook II in comparison to the Manix, making it appear to be a much tougher blade overall. I'd take it over the Manix blade in a situation that requires extra toughness any day, of course, that situation is fairly unrealistic, sort of like knife combat scenarios. :jerkit:

I didn't say anything about post count, I was speaking about years of experience in buying and using knives. Yes, using knives, which is totally different than swinging them around in "combat" poses, pretending that you're going to be in some epic battle sequence with a terrible foe someday.:jerkit:

i thought you were talking about him being here longer, making more posts, etc... and based on that, i shouldnt or was wrong in disagreeing. i still like my manix more than the chinook 2. both are amazing knives but i cant leave the house without my Manix. sorry for any confusing talk. God Bless and Happy 4th of July!

He doesn't want knowledge. He wants reality to to conform to his imagination.

I have a Manix in my pocket right now. It is a great knife, but not the toughest or strongest knife made.
If he was to say something like "the Manix is a tough knife at a fair price" I would agree with that.

Maybe he should have said "I have little experience regarding knives, but this Manix is the toughest I have seen" This would also be true.

it is the toughest locking tactical folder that any knife company makes

When i say the Manix is the toughest folder on the market, I really and honestly believe that and stand behind it

That is ludicrous. There are many knives Tougher than the Manix. some might be more expensive, and some might not cut as efficiently, but they are tougher.

I think I did you a favor by popping that particular bubble. (Assuming you choose to accept reality)

The Reality is, Spyderco makes Knives designed to be Cutting tools. Other knives often sacrifice some cutting ability to make them tougher.

That said, My Manix is a keeper. It cuts well.

Well, you are wrong. The Manix isn't the toughest folder on the market.
Of course it isn't. The Busse folder is the toughest by far. I've got one duct-taped to my Gatlin gun as I type.
