Manix G10 vs Kershaw Link 20cr AND Civivi Pintail

Just wondering what people think would be the better option. A Spyderco Manix G10 S30v or a Kershaw Link 20cv AND a Civivi Pintail S35vn? It'll be my only knife or knives and will be used on whatever can be cut with a knife from really light duty to really heavy duty. I've seen the Manix in person a bunch of times so I know it's really good quality but have never seen either the Kershaw or Civivi so didn't want to end up with two mediocre knives instead of one really decent one. I didn't know if anybody has seen or handled all three of the knives and could comment on the quality of the Kershaw and the Civivi vs the Manix. I'll be using Dmt diamond stones with a guide so sharpening shouldn't be a problem with any of the blade materials. I just don't want to end up with two mediocre knives rather than one good knife. I thought having a lighter duty and heavier duty knife might work out better but would probably rather just work with the Manix if it's much better quality than the Kershaw and the Civivi are.

I have two manix 2 models both in g10. The Spyderco Manix 2 is one of my favorite knives of all time and gets the most pocket time. I gave away my link because the handle was too cramped, it doesn't give you much room to grip and tapers too much toward the end of the handle making it feel awkward. The pintail looks nice but I would definitely go with the Manix 2.

You rally can’t go wrong with any of them. The Link is assisted, so that’s a no for me. The Manix has a huge finger choil that I hate…. So buy the Pintail!

Skip the Link/Civivi combo and get a ZT 0357, if you don’t mind the assisted opening. It’s like an upgraded Kershaw Link, with better ergos, a thicker liner lock, and just overall better fit and finish. 20CV steel

Ok thanks, I'll check it out. I guess I could go with a different knife than the Manix. I'm just trying to find a decent or really good quality knife that will hold up and continue working really good long term. And I could end up using it for just about anything so it's a little tough to find a really good quality knife to handle light and potentially heavy duty. So that's why I was looking at the Civivi and Link combo because they both use really good blade steels and would probably cover everything I would end up doing. I just definitely want to make sure the build quality is really good and am kinda worried the Link is like a $30 knife with a $100 blade or something like that and I could end up spending as much on that and a smaller knife as I would on one really decent knife like a Manix or pm2 or something I've seen in person.

The link is like you said a $35 knife with $100 blade. A great assisted knife I enjoy is the Zero Tolerance 0350 .

I get the Kershaw link 1776 in a black aluminum anodized handle. Or the Spyderco mannix. Both made in the USA. I believe they use the same steel but I could be wrong

Actually it is really not that much difference between the two of them except for the price. Same company damn near same knife except for the price

Having two links and one 0350 is would definitely have to disagree. The 0350 is considerably better fit and finish and thickness of liners is vastly different. Actually the assistant is also much stronger on the 0350 vs the link. Link doesn't have G10 scales and the FRN version of the link is actually a better feeling knife and is far more durable than the aluminum scale version. The link is a decent knife but not on par with the ZT by any means.

You bring up a valid point. I could be thinking of the 0357.

I only have experiences with the link and manix 2. I would say if you could only get one, definitely get the manix 2, here's nothing wrong with the link. It's actually one of my favorite Kershaws, but the Manix 2 outshines it based on lock type, ergonomics, and design execution.

Ya I've seen a bunch of usa spidercos over the years so I know their really well done. I was just looking for something with a good quality blade material for not too too much money. Civivi is an entry level brand made by WE which is a higher end company. I'm more interested in it for the blade material than anything else but I think it might be a little bit on the thin side for heavier outside stuff and the Manix might be a little on the large side for smaller indoors stuff but I guess I'd rather have a knife that's a little overbuilt for indoor and small stuff than a blade that might be a little too small to cover something I might have to do.

Pssssst. Get the Spyderco. You get what you pay for. Isn't it better to buy one really good knife than two or three cheap ones. Buy one that will last you your lifetime. Unless you start collecting,. my problem is some of my knives are quite expensive. And I won't use them. So you're damned if you do and your damned if you don't. Welcome to the chaotic world of knives.

Easy answer Manix 2, and sorry but if I post it normally comes with a pic.

Don't care much for Spyderco knives and I know they have there supporter's all over the world. I like the Link in CV20 in green handles. Haven't had to sharpen it in months just a stropping once a week to tune the edge up. Razor sharp and a decent edc size. Also just rec. a mini Adamas I bought when a deal here on the forums went south for me. Glad I got it and not the Berg I was looking to buy. The M-Adamas has great steel and super ergo's. I'll carry either or for an edc for a good long while. stay safe and just my opinion.
